The window of willingness in addiction is real and unpredictable. When someone is ready — after a crisis, an overdose, a moment of clarity, a conversation that cracked something open — that readiness is not infinite. Making them wait two weeks for an intake appointment often means they are no longer in the same place when the appointment arrives. Hope Harbor Wellness maintains same-day and next-day assessment availability specifically because we understand how the window of willingness works. When you call 770-573-9546, we move.

What “Same-Day” Actually Means at Hope Harbor Wellness
Same-day does not mean a phone intake and a promise to call back when a slot opens up. It means:
- Same-day admissions call: You speak with a member of our admissions team — not a voicemail — who gathers your clinical history, verifies your insurance in real time, and gives you a real plan by the end of the call.
- Same-day buprenorphine induction (for opioid withdrawal): If you are in moderate opioid withdrawal (COWS score ≥8) and can reach our Hiram facility, buprenorphine induction is frequently available the same day you call. Withdrawal ends within 60 to 90 minutes of the first dose. Home induction via telehealth also available.
- Same-day or next-day clinical assessment: The comprehensive 60 to 90-minute clinical assessment that determines your level of care, whether MAT is indicated, and what the treatment plan looks like. Our assessment calendar is maintained to accommodate same-day and next-day appointments in most cases.
- PHP or IOP start within 1 to 3 days: After assessment and insurance authorization, most clients begin PHP or IOP within 1 to 3 business days. For urgent presentations, expedited prior authorization is requested immediately.
Why the Window of Willingness Matters — The Clinical Reality
Readiness for addiction treatment is not a stable state. It is a moment — sometimes very brief — when the costs of continuing to use have outweighed the costs of stopping in a way the person can feel. A survived overdose. An arrest. A partner’s ultimatum that was believed for the first time. A health scare. A conversation that landed differently than every prior conversation. These moments produce what treatment researchers call “treatment readiness” — a state of genuine openness to change that is clinically distinct from intellectual acknowledgment that change is needed.
The problem: treatment readiness is time-limited. Waiting two weeks for a first appointment allows the acute crisis to pass, the rationalizations to reassemble, the social environment to restabilize around continued use, and the window to close. Same-day access is not just a customer service feature. It is a clinical intervention in its own right — catching readiness while it is present.
Who Can Access Same-Day Assessment
Same-day assessment at Hope Harbor Wellness is available to adults 18 and older with commercial insurance — BCBS, Cigna, Aetna, Optum/UHC, Oscar, TriCare, Humana Military, VACCN, and others — or private pay. We do not accept Medicaid or Medicare.
There are no clinical exclusions for same-day assessment based on substance, severity, or history. We assess clients who have been to treatment before and clients seeking treatment for the first time. We assess clients with complex dual diagnosis presentations and clients with straightforward, first-episode presentations. The assessment determines the appropriate clinical response — which may be same-day PHP entry, IOP enrollment, outpatient detox initiation, or coordinated referral to a higher level of care with direct transition back to our program afterward. You do not need to know which of these you need. The assessment figures that out.
For Opioid Withdrawal — Call Now, Not Later
Opioid withdrawal has a biological clock. The severity peaks within 36 to 72 hours of the last dose and gradually resolves over 5 to 7 days without medication — a timeline most people cannot sustain without relapsing. The buprenorphine induction window — the period when you are in sufficient withdrawal for safe induction — opens approximately 8 to 16 hours after your last short-acting opioid dose.
Calling 770-573-9546 as early as possible — even before you reach the induction window — allows us to guide you through the timing, prepare the clinical team for your arrival, and have everything ready when you do reach the appropriate withdrawal level. Waiting until you are in severe withdrawal to call increases the risk of relapse before you reach us. Call early. We work with the timing together.
The Same-Day Admissions Call — What Happens in 20 Minutes
You call 770-573-9546. An admissions team member answers — not a national call center, not an answering service. A person who works at Hope Harbor Wellness and knows our programs, availability, and clinical capacity. The call covers: what you are dealing with and how long, your current situation (active withdrawal, active use, or seeking help for after current use), insurance information, work and family situation for scheduling, and what you are hoping for from treatment.
By the end of the call: you have real information about what we offer, what your insurance covers (verified in real time), what same-day or next-day availability looks like, and a specific next step. If you are in opioid withdrawal, we guide you through the timing of when to come in for induction. If you need assessment first, we schedule it before you hang up. No callbacks. No waiting to hear back. A plan, by the end of the call.
No Appointment? Just Show Up (within reason)
If you are in active opioid withdrawal and cannot wait for a scheduled induction appointment, call 770-573-9546 and describe your situation. We will assess over the phone whether urgent walk-in assessment is appropriate and guide you on timing. For clients in genuine crisis, we accommodate. Our clinical team understands that active withdrawal is a medical situation that requires clinical urgency, not appointment scheduling.
In-network with BCBS/Anthem, Cigna, Aetna, Optum/UHC, Oscar, TriCare, Humana Military, VACCN, Beacon Health, Magellan, UBH, UMR, Meritain, and MultiPlan. Adults 18+ commercial insurance only. No Medicaid or Medicare. Private pay and CareCredit available. Free verification: 770-573-9546.
